Social media for dental practices is very much based around the premise of brand awareness, however as with all business activities, ideally you would like to see some form of return from your investment. Here’s some ideas for monetising social media for your dental practice.
Incorporate a clear call to action
Patients visit your social media pages for a variety of reasons which include: finding out information about the practice, access to special offers/deals, expert tips and more. If the page does not fulfil what the patient is looking for, it is unlikely that they will return.
So when writing status updates, ensure that you make the purpose of the update very clear with a call to action.
However, do remember the 70/20/10 rule so that your posts remain varied and patients do not lose interest. 70 per cent valuable information, 20 percent shared content and 10 per cent promotional.
Convey a sense of urgency
Due to the time decay factor within many social networks, it is important to catch the attention of your fans and create a sense of urgency to encourage them to act now rather than later.
Utilise the time limited nature of social media by using language such as ‘for a limited time’ or ‘only 5 spaces left’ to encourage your fans to contact the practice as soon as possible.
Offer exclusive deals on different networks
Test out which social network works the best for you by creating exclusive offers just for one platform. This way, you lower the cost if many people take up the offer across networks and in addition, it also allows you to see which network is more likely to create a direct response.
Encourage Sharing
Don’t forget to ask your fans to share, retweet etc your promotions. This is because, when you ask your audience to interact with your content, they are more likely to do so. This will mean that more people have access to the post, growing the number of potential people to take up the offer.
