Yesterday saw the iconic Apple-1 sell for £563,904. The Henry Ford organisation bought the working computer to join its collection of technological and scientific artefacts in its museums in Michigan USA.
The original Apple-1 was sold as just the circuit board, with the buyer having to then purchase a monitor and keyboard separately. Fifty were hand-made by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in Job’s family garage in 1979.
The Apple-1 is judged by technological commentators as a defining product by Apple that revolutionised the computer industry, kick-starting the Personal Computer, which saw computers being accessible and functional in any household.
