Search Engine Land have recently reported (June 17th) on an anonymous tip they have had from reader. The steely eyed reader noticed a text messaging icon on a Google Adwords advert, indicating that Google is testing the idea of an SMS/ texting Ad Extension.
Here’s the screen dump of the readers observations.
When the text icon is clicked on, it will let your patient/potential patient text you. When they click on the icon, their default messaging app will open. This could be pre-filled with a text message with your chosen information, such as – “I have a dental emergency, call me back please’… for an emergency dental care ad campaign for example.
Google have responded to Search Engine Land’s enquiries following the observations with..
“We’re always experimenting with new ways to connect our advertisers to customers but don’t have further details to share at this time.”
So, let’s wait and see what happens. The Dental Design office can see this type of Ad extension working for emergency dentistry campaigns and new patient enquiries., or any enquiry for that matter.
