Pinterest has announced that they have developed new business user accounts, confirming that they are now courting brands. This means that now when you sign up to the photo sharing platform, you have the option to build a brand profile or you can convert your current account to a business account.
The difference between having a business account and a standard one is an update to the company’s terms and conditions of use, technically, prior to this businesses were limited to ‘personal, non commercial use’ of the boards, despite many businesses signing up.
The new business accounts also gives you the ability to add buttons on your website, linking your Pinterest boards, this makes them more accessible to your audience. Additionally, Pinterest have added a verification badge to help people locate businesses easily.
“We want to help more businesses provide great content on Pinterest and make it easy to pin from their websites,” said Cat Lee, Pinterest Product Manager.
Pinterest has further tried to aid businesses in using their platform by providing case studies of businesses who actively use Pinterest to promote themselves, giving information on how to adhere to Pinterest’s marketing guidelines and more.
Pinterest is an interesting social media platform, which we at Dental Design are currently exploring in relation to the potential benefits it could have if included in our client’s digital marketing mix.
