Your SEO Approach

One of the main marketing strategies that can help your practice build a successful online presence is search engine optimization (SEO), the process of tailoring your website to the algorithms that search engines use to rank websites based on “signals” that the site emits.

However, what should you consider to develop an effective SEO strategy. Obviously the purpose of SEO is about ranking well in the search engines to drive traffic to your website, but even that won’t mean much if your website is showing up in front of an audience that doesn’t care. The first thing you should always do is identify the patients you wish to target and learn all about them.

Based on this analysis of the type of patients you are wanting to target, you then need to perform keyword research. Deciding what keywords you should or shouldn’t target can make or break your strategy.

Target a wider range of keywords:

Target a wider range of keywords that are likely to convert

User experience is number 1 priority:

Avoid poor site engagement to increase the average time spent on your site, pages per visit and reduce bounce rates

Write compelling content:

Write natural and engaging content targeted to humans and not the search engines

Keyword density is not overly important:

Refrain from being repetitive with keywords as it can be flagged as content spam

Content should be diverse:

Content can be used in many ways. A lot of thought is put into videos, infographics, podcasts and presentations

Sell your content with your title tags:

Create compelling title and meta descriptions. They should be viewed as adverts that sell your content!

Build a long lasting brand:

Search engines are looking at social signals to determine brand domains. Google+, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest are the most important platforms for SEO

High quality guest blogging:

High quality guest blogging along with social signals from a dedicated and active audience count as legitimate links

Manual quality checked submissions:

Manual submissions to carefully selected industry and local directories is effective

Talk and connect with people:

Blog comment links have no impact on rankings but are used for building relationships and for gaining direct traffic
