Including and writing a blog for your website is a good idea. Blog SEO is important as it’s an opportunity for you to get more traffic to your website. More traffic to your website usually equates to more patients through your doors. When writing your blog, it’s best to optimise your blog content for SEO. It’s easier to do this as you are writing it but you can also go back to old blogs and make changes to improve them too. Look for your Keywords Many people who have just started blogging guess what topics people in their field would be interested in. However, you don’t need to rely on guesswork, particularly when you can use keyword research tools to discover exactly what your users are looking for. Keyword research is used by content creators and SEO experts alike and can help you plan your blog content strategy. You can try using keyword research tools from SEMRush. They offer lots of useful features and include in-depth keyword information, competition analysis, and keyword position tracking. You are looking for the keyword that has the highest search volume and the lowest competition. Once you have discovered this keyword you can go and find your Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) keywords. To do this, simply enter the keyword into a Google search and then scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see them listed as ‘related searches’. When writing your blog try to include as many of these as possible. Don’t just try and stuff these keywords in your blog out of context. This is not good for your reader and your site can even be penalised by search engines as they are designed to detect keyword stuffing. Add Hyperlinks in your Blog Another good tip for your blogs is to use hyperlinks. You shouldn’t use too many, just a few and they should be relevant to your topic and link to well-established websites. These hyperlinks lend authority to your blog as search engines find the pages and associate your blog with high authority sites. The links should be useful and clear where they are going to. Write a Good Blog Title Writing a good title for your blog is important for your SEO. It should make the user want to click on your blog when it is listed in the search results. You can also try and include your keyword from your keyword research to make it more SEO-friendly. Add Images and Videos to Blogs It’s important to add some images or even short videos in your blogs, not just because it makes them look better but also because search engines tend to rank engaging content higher in search results. Don’t just take any image off the internet though, as you could get into some serious copyright problems. There are plenty of free stock images that can be used from websites such as Pexels. Readability This is another important factor considered by search engines. Blogs that are easier to read often rank higher than those that are not user-friendly. Many people scan through an article to check whether they want to read it. That’s why it’s important to have subheadings, use bullet points, and shorter sentences and paragraphs. What Next?
