Most dental practices do not have the time to create blog posts for their website. However, when you do manage to set a side some time, you want to make sure that it was time well spent. But before you press the publish button has everything been optimised for the best results?

Below is a short checklist to help you make the most of your available time:

What are people actually interested in reading?

This is the main question you need to start with.

There is no point diving straight into writing content without understanding if there is an audience that wants to read it.

Spend a bit of time doing some research. Look at what others might be doing to see what kind of engagement they receive on their posts, this will help give you clues as to what works.

Writing unique content

So you’ve done the research into what your audience might like, but what will be unique about your content?

Producing content that looks exactly the same as other practices won’t do you any favours. Your content needs to stand out from all the other posts on the subject.

Search engine optimisation (SEO)

SEO is also important in your blog posts.

Spend some time thinking about the headline of your post. How can you make it catchy, but also include the main keywords?

Below the headline you might notice that the URL has been automatically generated for you, but is this optimised correctly?

Do your keywords appear in the main content?

Are you using subheadings to break up the post?

Are you using images in your post?

One of the main elements that attracts users to your post, out of the thousands of other posts out there, is a good image.

A good image helps users understand what the post might be about.

Build links to the post

Building links, both internal and external, will help users find your post and boost its SEO.

Sharing the post on social media

If you have a following on social media, why not share the post here? It will help give the post instant visibility.

Call to Action

So a user has read your post, what do you want them to do next?

Are you asking users to submit a form, pick up the phone, share the post with their friends?
