O2 has recently announced the next phase in its Priority Moments service with a local marketing focus by opening it up over to O2 independent retailers and small businesses across the UK. Small businesses such as Dental Practices will be able to use ‘Priority Moments’ to create offers and promotions that are relevant, local and immediately redeemable.
The rise in smart-phone usage means that there a whole new marketing channel that Dentists can target – so how does 02 priority local advertising actually work? Would it be a useful channel for Dental Practices?
Priority Moments local Advertising
Priority Moments is a free loyalty service for all O2 customers. It gives them access to a wide range of exclusive offers and experiences from shops, services and leisure brands.
O2 customers can access Priority Moments by mobile or on their computer. The mobile app uses your location to show the offers nearest to you first.
What is a Moment?
A Moment is an offer created by a business to run on the Priority Moments service. A Dental Practice could upload an offer such as ‘10% off first check up for new Patients’. These offers are generally exclusive to 02 customers.
To upload an offer , O2 provide a portal with easy to use advertising templates – once completed your offer will be displayed on all types of Android, iPhone and Blackberry phones using the O2 Priority moments service.
How does this help Local Business?
O2 uses gps based targeting to only show offers relevant to a users location, so when setting your targeting settings, you can specify that your advert is only shown in a given location to prevent unrelevant enquiries.
How useful will this be for Dental Practices?
The latest mobile phone statistics show that there are more mobile phones in the UK than people, 52% of mobile users have a smart phone and 02 currently has a 28% market share – so even locally 02 Priority Moments does have a lot of reach. Resent research has also shown that Mobile users are more likely to convert than Desktop users, the latter many of which are still in the ‘compare and research’ phase of the buying cycle.
These stats indicate that this certainly a channel Dentists should consider, but the biggest factor is that it is completely free to use at the time of writing. It does not cost anything to to register and start marketing through this service. So given the benefits listed above, and the zero risk element – we would certainly recommend this as a channel to market to potential new patients. O2 have stated that they may charge in the future however.
