Gaining insight into what your competition is doing can be very tricky, but very useful. It can help give you a better understanding of what types of content engage people, how they interact with their fans and generally what works to help drive interest in their company.
Wouldn’t it be useful to have a simple means to monitor what the competition are doing?
Well, Facebook about a year ago started rolling out “Pages to Watch”. Their first version didn’t exactly provide the greatest level of stealth, as it would alert some page admins that their page was being tracked by another competing page.
Their newest version however means that no one will now know that you’re watching their activity. In addition, Facebook will show you several metrics relating to your competition e.g. number of posts by page admins, number of fans interactions and a leaderboard of the top five performing posts within all the pages you are watching. These metrics can help give you a greater understanding of the types of activities you should be doing to help your engagement with your audience, it will also give you an understanding of what content works best.
