Is Your Site Optimised for Mobile Devices?
It was mentioned in a previous post that Google are considering adding mobile user experience to their search algorithm. Recently Google have decided to add a mobile usability report to its Webmaster Tools.
The new mobile report will provide details on many usability issues such as:
- flash content on the site
- tiny fonts
- fixed width viewports
- content not sized to viewport
- clickable links/buttons too close to each other
Google understands that the more mobile friendly the website is the more likely it is that users will revisit the site. Google suggests that companies should ensure that:
- visitors do not need to scroll horizontally or adjust screens to view all content
- correct font sizes are used based on screen size
- buttons are placed in places where they are not crowded by other items
