Social media saw huge changes in 2013 and 2014 looks to be no different, here are a few predictions of what the world of social media has to bring for the coming year.
1) Paid Advertising
Long gone are the days where social media was completely free for all. Many social networks have reached maturity and are now in full monetisation mode. Therefore dental practices wishing to reach potential new patients will need to pay to do so, through sponsored updates. It has even been predicted that social PPC becomes a marketing discipline in its own right!
2) Staff Advocacy
In most dental practices, the most passionate advocates about your brand is actually people that work there. Dental practices are beginning to realise this and if they haven’t they should! Ensure that your employees have liked all of your social networks and regularly like, share and comment on updates. This will cause your employees own network of friends and family to see your content and will spread your messages even further.
3) Show don’t Tell
2013 was a huge year for imagery and video. Photos on Facebook receive 53% more likes than text posts and on twitter 18% more clicks than those without. This isn’t going to change so dental practices need to get creative with photos and video to stay ahead of the curve.
4) Search will become more social
Both Google and Bing have admitted that social signals influence search engine rankings and we think that this will become even more prominent over the coming year. So make sure that you regularly link back to your website (but don’t become too spammy) and have a live feed on your website for maximum social strength!
To conclude, will the future be more social or media in 2014? It’s looking likely that it is going to become more of the latter. If you would like information about setting up social media within your dental practice give Dental Design a call on 01202 677 277 who will be happy to help you.
