Earlier this week, (Tuesday 25th January 2011) collegues and I attended an advanced CSS training course held by Webcredible in London. This outing provided an insight to the power and effectivness of using the latest CSS coding to style, build and create leading websites-a modern day requirement to ensure website success in a highly competetive World Wide Web.
The course helped the Dental Design team ‘brush up’ and improve our all round knowledge working with CSS, focusing on design principles such as Margins, Padding and Borders, displayed through ‘The Box Model’. We were also shown how to create curved borders to improve visual aesthetics and also worked with a range of different layout styles such as fixed and fluid.
On top of this I found it really useful and interesting learning how to create navigational buttons and CSS drop down menus, forms, checkboxes and radio buttons, a new skill that I wish to incorporate into my future web design!
As if all this information and newly found skills was not enough, we learn’t even more!!!! For example; A common problem that many web designers come across when creating websites is that different browsers such as IE6,IE7, Firefox and Google Chrome display web pages in different ways visually, items often appear to move or look bigger or smaller across different browsers. On this Advance CSS course we learnt to over come these problem by using browser hacks. We were taught how to use code within our CSS to maintain that all browser will be able to display web sites that we have created perfectly- i.e. The layout, positioning, design etc will not change when using different browsers, but will instead appear the same visually across the board.
On the whole I believe this course to be very beneficial indeed. It has helped maintain that the Dental Design team are completely up to date with coding in the most efficient, effective way possible…I shall definitely be attending another course hosted by Webcredible in the near future!!For more information please visit the webcredible website – www.webcredible.co.uk
