6 Simple Ways to Get More Engagement on Facebook

Creating an active Facebook community can be a challenge. You need to dedicate time to your Page every day and, even then, it sometimes seems all of your efforts only result in silence.

Coming up with content is hard enough, but content that will get fans to become active on your Page is the trickiest part of engagement marketing.

Here are 6 easy ways to get your fans to interact with your Facebook Page:

1. Include a lot of pictures—and clever captions

Seeing a lot of black-and-white text on a Facebook Page is uninspiring. These days, any organization can post pictures—just use your digital camera or smartphone to capture a picture and post it online.

Photos of industry-related news or advice or just pictures of behind-the-scenes stuff at your business can all help drive engagement.

2. Share more than just stuff about your business

Okay, so you may know you shouldn’t always be trying to sell things to your fans on Facebook. But did you know constant posts about your business, in general, can be just as bad?

Fans aren’t just looking for news about your company; they’re also looking for news related to your industry. Provide links to information you think your readers might be interested in, and make your Page an effective and reliable resource people want to engage with.

3. Talk to your fans

If you get a comment, be sure to respond. Not only that, respond as a person, not as a business.

If fans see you’re willing to interact with them on a personal basis, they’re more likely to engage with your Page.

4. Ask questions

Questions can help spark a conversation that involves your fans, but they can also hang there on a Page, dejected and lonely.

The trick is finding the right balance between interesting and intrusive. Don’t ask fans what they’re doing for the weekend or what their favourite food is—instead, ask them something related to your industry.

5. Mix your product with your personality

Some of the most successful Facebook Pages manage to sell their product just by mentioning it.

The key is to talk about something great that happens to feature your product/ service, too. That could be a news story, an event, or just a picture of a customer using your product.

6. Don’t give up

Building a relationship with Facebook fans is a lot of work. Nowadays, there are more than four million Facebook business pages and all of them are vying for the same fans.

Focus on engaging with the fans you already have and the rest will come naturally.

Check out some of the biggest brands to see what they’re doing and try to learn from them. The important thing is to keep posting, see what works, and eventually you’ll be able to.
