Bing has signed an agreement with encyclopaedia Britannica, who announced that they will no longer be making print editions in March this year, to provide summaries of topics which appear in the encyclopaedia alongside search engine results. This agreement will enable Bing to provide more informational results in order to compete with Google’s new knowledge graph feature which was launched in mid- May.
The main difference between Bing’s new feature and Google is that Bing provides links to third party sources which contain further information, whereas google provides links to new google searches for further information.
Further differences include a notable contrast in the frequency these ‘information summary online casinos boxes’ occur in the search engine results pages. Google’s results include these sorts of results far more often than Bing. Additionally, Google give the boxes a more prominent position on the right of the organic search results, whereas Bing display the information boxes where Britannica’s organic listing would usually have been.
Bing are continuing to play catch up against google who have the dominant market share globally.
