Do your blog posts need that extra pow?
Most of us know the idiom: “A picture paints a thousand words”. But whilst adding images to your blog posts is a good idea, your posts can be further enhanced by adding videos.
The use of videos in blog posts is something many dental practices overlook. But adding videos to your posts can help improve your readership’s interest in your posts and can increase the likelihood that your content is shared.
YouTube, the largest video-sharing website, provides an easy way for you to add videos to your blog posts. When you visit a video on YouTube there will be a tab labelled “Share”. When you click on this it will provide you with a section called “embed” and this is where you can copy the code into your post to embed the YouTube video.
If you do not own the videos yourself make sure you ask for permission before embedding them in your posts. If you can use someone else’s videos, it will help cut down the amount of time spent on a post. But, in most cases, you will want to create your own videos, as this is the only way to fully connect with your readership.
Making videos doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. In fact, there are many types of videos you can create easily:
– How-tos
– Top 10s
– Product reviews
– Treatment reviews
– Practice walk through
The videos you use in your posts don’t have to be a replication of the content in the post, they just have to be relevant to the post. And, creating videos based on the broad topics above allows them to be used in multiple blog posts.
