It has been announced that Facebook will roll out video advertising to US customers by the end of this week and it is only a matter of time before they become available in the UK.
The adverts will autoplay, but with no sound and will be added to both desktop and mobile user’s newsfeeds regardless to whether or not users click on them.
Advertisers are still unsure of how long the adverts will be, but it is rumoured that the videos will be up to 15 seconds in length on both mobile and desktop.
The announcement was expected far earlier in the year with some advertisers producing Christmas ads in anticipation, however the launch was set back by Facebook due to engineering problems as the videos were sometimes slow to load, hindering the users experience whilst interacting with the social network.
It is unclear at the moment how much these videos will cost, but it is likely to be far more expensive than Facebook’s usual pay per click advertising model. It has been rumoured that Facebook will charge up to $2million per day to reach the full audience of 18-54 year olds.
Whilst video advertising may be out of dental practice’s price range for the time being, this is certainly an exciting development in social media advertising. If you would like a cheaper video advertising option, try adding a video to youtube and sharing it throughout your social networks.
