Google is the “directory” of choice for people trying to find a local business.

There are factors that can aid your online marketing, but also factors that might be harming your efforts.

If you are looking to succeed online you need to make sure that you have the right online marketing strategy, and a website that is engaging. Below are a few reasons why you might not be generating the traffic you are looking for and the conversions on your website:

Mobile Design

Lets start with one of the biggest – is your site mobile friendly?

More and more searches are taking place on mobile devices – and this is only going to increase!

A site that offers a poor user experience on mobile devices is likely to increase your bounce rate, as users will become frustrated with having to pinch and zoom to see content.

From the statistics we see, there are a huge proportion of mobile visits to our clients’ websites, and if the site is not optimised for mobiles they might be missing out on enquiries.

 

Content

Google like unique content, and users like useful engaging content.

If you are serious about getting the most out of your website and helping your search engine optimisation (SEO) efforts, your website needs to have unique content on it.

The content must be useful and easy to understand. Content that is weak or confusing will only be doing your website harm, both in regards to your SEO and in reflecting your practice.

Slow Speed

Everyone at some stage must have experienced that “loading animation”, and thought to themselves how long am I going to give this website to load.

It is thought that for many of us we are only prepared to wait less than 3 seconds before deciding to go elsewhere.

 

Low-Quality Images

Low-quality or pixelated images on a website can have a negative impact on the trust users have towards a practice.

As users see a website as a direct reflection of a practice, using high quality professional images helps improve the user’s experience and can contribute towards your SEO efforts.

 

SEO strategy

If you are in a highly competitive location, or have a brand new practice and domain, having the correct approach to your online marketing can help the number of enquiries you receive.

Many clients might be fixed on just having SEO carried out on their website, which is fine in many circumstances but sometimes other additional online marketing tactics will help the site especially if the site is brand new and in a highly competitive area.

SEO is a gradual long-term online marketing strategy which will not necessarily give you instant page 1 visibility especially in competitive locations.

The best strategy, especially for new practices, is to use both SEO and Pay-per-click (PPC), as your website can have page 1 visibility from the PPC campaign whilst the SEO is being worked on to help the website’s organic rankings.
