Google Analytics is a fundamental part of any SEO strategy, after all, what’s the point in us working hard to get your website ranking highly in Google, if you can’t track how many visitors came to your website as a result? That’s why here at Dental Design we convert the data from the Google analytics tool into easy to digest data, which you receive in your monthly stats emails.
Google has announced the latest evolution to its data collection tool, Google Analytics Premium. Prior to this announcement, the majority of Google’s tools were free; now however, Google are looking to charge £90,000 per year for the improved service.
So what is the difference between the standard version and premium? Premium is designed for large enterprises who value guaranteed availability, a dedicated support team, receive up to a billion hits per month and want faster processing. Otherwise though, it’s pretty much the same with a very similar user interface to the free tool.
Here is a video released from the company that explains a bit more about it:
So does this mean that Google is no longer investing in the free tool? According to Google, this is certainly not the case, with version 5 being rolled out as we speak with some great new features. Despite this, if Google premium is a success who knows what will happen in years to come, Google may decide to charge for the use of all of their analytic data!
For now, there’s nothing to worry about for our clients; we’ll continue to use the standard tool as it doesn’t seem relevant to our clients needs at the moment. However, it’s always a good idea to see what is happening in larger enterprises and assess whether it could trickle down and affect not only our business, but yours.
