Local SEO stats you can’t ignore

The internet has become the primary source people use to research local businesses including dental practices.

If you own a dental practice and would like to know just how important it is to have a good presence on the internet, please read the following stats:

 

1. 50% of mobile search visitors visit a business within one day

According to Google, 50% of consumers who conducted a local search on their smartphone visit a business with a day, and 34% who searched on a computer/tablet did the same.

Therefore your dental practice’s ranking in search results will not only have a large impact on the amount of traffic your website receives but also the amount of physical visits to your practice.

How can you help boost your chances of being found in search results?

  • Create a Google Business page and make sure the profile is complete
  • Build links to your website
  • Make sure your NAP (name , address and phone number) is consistent on all websites displaying your practice details
  • Use location keywords where appropriate

 

2. Use of local information in Ads

According to Google:

  • 61% of users use the address or phone number in the ad
  • 68% use the “Get Directions” or “Call” buttons

The importance here is to make sure that your ads are targeted by location (i.e. not to the whole of the UK unless that is relevant) and to use location extensions to help your ads performance. Make sure that your information on your Google Business page is up to date as AdWords uses this information.

 

3. Online Reviews

88% of users read reviews to determine the quality of a local business.

The importance here is that you need to understand where users are leaving you reviews and monitor the reviews being submitted.

From time to time you might receive a negative review, but responding to these types of reviews where ever possible is better than just leaving them there for others to see.

 

4. Mobile searches for local businesses

95% of smartphone users have looked for local information.

38% of users are impressed when a local business has a mobile-optimised site

The take home here is that even if you are found in the mobile search results, users are not going to be converting on your website if it is not mobile friendly!

 

5. Social media for local businesses

70% of users are more likely to use a local business if it has information available on a social media site.

If you have a presence on social media be sure to engage with your patients on a regular basis.

If you haven’t yet got a presence on social media you might want to think about it as it is likely that your competitors are already using it to potentially engage with your existing patients!
