Stand Out on Instagram

instagramDo you have an Instagram account? If not, why not?! Research has shown that people remember 20% of what they read BUT 80% of what they see. It is important therefore to take advantage of what Instagram has to offer and to optimise your presence on this platform to help you appeal to the millions of users. The following will help you make the most out of this social media platform:

 

Optimise the Basics

Consistency throughout all your social media profiles is important, it helps people find you easily, so the first thing to do on Instagram is to try and claim your company name as your profile name, if this has been taken try to chose something as close to your name as possible. Once you have your profile name make sure that the basic settings and information on your profile page are complete. You should at least make sure that you do the following:

  • Use your company logo as the profile picture especially if you were unable to claim your practice name as the profile name, this will help your followers quickly recognise your updates.
  • Provide a brief description of your practice and any dental treatments that your practice might specialise in.
  • Add the link to your website.

Share Elsewhere

It is possible that your practice already has a Facebook and Twitter account set up, so why not share your Instagram updates there as well, and let your fans and followers on these social media platforms know that you have a presence on Instagram and to come and follow you there as well!

Promoting Your Dental Practice and Treatments

Basic photos might not be appealing to many people looking through Instagram, so this is your chance to be creative. Try taking creative photos of your practice or treatments and enhance them with Instagram’s filters. Add some company event photos etc to also help your followers feel more connected to your practice.

Using Hashtags

The use of hashtags helps you understand and track who’s talking about you. Make sure however to do plenty of research on which hashtags you should use as you wouldn’t want to be using a hashtag that someone else is using.

Creating Contests

Instagram is a great platform to create easy and engaging contests that can help increase the visibility and attention of your practice and profile. Simply ask your followers to post a certain type of picture and ask them to use a specific unique hashtag that you have created for the contest. These contests often allow you to reach larger audiences as people share their photo with others. In addition the unique hashtag assigned to the contest allows people to see all the posted pictures for the contest and can persuade them to join in.
