We all know that gaining online reviews is an incredibly important part of any online marketing strategy. They help boost potential patient’s trust in your practice, build your online reputation and drive traffic to your site. 88% of consumers will look at reviews before making a decision to get in touch, and BrightLocal found that 57% will only use a business that has 4 or more stars.

So, clearly online reviews have a big impact on how potential patients view and interact with your practice online and offline.

Impact of Responding to reviews

While gaining reviews is important, many practices overlook the next step of the process – actually responding to the reviews you gain.

Google themselves highlight the importance of responding to reviews on their Google Business platform, saying:

‘Responding to reviews shows that you value your customers and the feedback that they leave about your business. High-quality, positive reviews from your customers will improve your business’s visibility.’

If Google are encouraging responses, it is definitely something everyone should be doing! Google love to see businesses actively using their platforms and have openly disclosed that they will rank businesses with a good amount of reviews and active engagement highly.

 A new study suggests that responding to reviews can increase revenue for businesses. This is because review responses positively impact the reader’s impression of the business – in turn leading to an increase in enquiries.

Responding to reviews, especially negative reviews, creates a two-way conversation between your practice and patients. By responding, it shows you are listening and reacting to feedback, and proactively addressing any problems brought up by negative reviews.
