Why Redesign?

Websites like dental practices need to be updated and revamped in order to continually be attractive to both existing and potential patients.

The online world is incredibly competitive and most users judge a business based on their online presence. Often a user will click on a search result and spend a few seconds judging whether or not the business is appealing and trustworthy, if they don’t like what they see they will leave and look at another website.

Many clients are unsure whether it is the right time for them to consider a redesign, but below are some reasons why you should:

Is your site mobile friendly?

Noticed an increase in the number of visitors to your website that come from mobile devices? Over the last few years there has been a noticeable change in users’ searching behaviour. Most users are deciding to browser the web using their mobile devices due to the convenience of having them on their person at all times.

Now looking at your own stats, if you have a significantly large proportion of visitors using mobile devices to view your website (40% or more), and your website is not built to be mobile friendly, you should be looking at fixing this. Mobile users will get frustrated with your website if it is not mobile friendly and look for alternatives, resulting in lost enquiries for your practice.

 

 

Search engine ranking

Old websites have old code.

Google are known to look at the way a website is coded and to look for anything new on websites. Sometimes Google make judgements on whether or not a website is being looked after, and if nothing has changed on the website for some time you might find your rankings decrease.

Redesigning a website allows the web designer to refresh the code of your website, making it much more search engine friendly. It will also allow you to add more modern features and interactivity to the website to improve the user experience.

On the subject of user experience, Google likely use metrics such as click through rates and bounce rates in their ranking algorithm. So if your website is more attractive it will likely result in reducing the bounce rate, improve your rankings and increase your enquiries.

Competition

Are you on page 1 of Google but wondering why the enquiries aren’t coming through? One reason could be your competition.

You could be ranked at the top of Google for your chosen keywords, but if your competitors’ websites look more appealing potential patients will chose to contact them.

Users tend to look at a website as a direct reflection of your practice, and if the website looks outdated they will often look elsewhere.

Branding

Does your website reflect your practice?

Often many practices will undergo a refurbishment, but not look at updating the website. Your website is most likely the first touchpoint the patient has with your practice, and it is vital that you make a good first impression.

You might have spent a large amount of time and money on refurbishing your practice with modern equipment and furnishings, but users carrying out searches online won’t know this or perceive this through your website if it is not updated.

Summary

Standing out online is hard, but often redesigning your website can help improve your online presence and number of enquiries.
