Have you ignored your PPC account for a while? Or perhaps you’re just launching into the world of adwords and you want to give your campaign some immediate love? Here’s 4 tops tips to give your pay per click campaign the boost it needs.
The main goal of these tips is to help save wasted ad spend and boost efficiencies quickly.
#1 Stop wasting money!
One of the main objections to embarking upon a ppc campaign for Dentists is the thought, ‘isn’t pay per click expensive?’. It certainly can be if the campaign isn’t set up and optimised correctly, but done well the return on investment can be wonderful.
In the AdWords dashboard via the search terms tab, set your date range for the past 30 days, then sort terms by the highest spenders. Are there any irrelevant or very broad terms that are spending lots of money? If so, negate them.
If you find that terms are extremely broad, add a negative exact match but let the long-tail keywords still work their magic – and voila! Instant budget saver.
#2 Check your conversion tracking
The numbers in your campaign could show lots of conversions, but what if hardly any are turning in to new patients? It’s important to regularly check your conversion tracking codes so that you are making your advertising decisions on accurate data.
This one is especially important for inherited PPC accounts. First, go to the tools tab of your AdWords dashboard, then go to the webpages link to view website pages that are reporting conversions.
Ensure that the tracking is displaying conversions on thank-you pages rather than home or other inner pages of the website. Otherwise you’ll have no idea how many people have actually contacted the practice as a result of your ppc campaign.
#3 Pause non-performers
If you suspect that certain keywords, adverts or even whole ad groups are not performing, pause them and over a course of 30 days check back to see if this has made a positive effect on your campaign.
However, urge caution on this point, if you make too many changes at once you won’t know what is and isn’t working well for you. Make one change at a time.
#4 Review ad extensions
Ad extensions are very important for a successful campaign and also factor into how your ads perform via AdWords’ Ad Rank. So make sure that you set up location and site links as a bare minimum.
