Are your social media pages lacking engagement? Would you like more likes, comments and retweets from your posts? Here’s 5 tips to help:
1) Attract your reader’s attention
If you have written a blog or are sharing an article, rather than just posting a link, highlight a quote or question raised by the article to draw the reader’s attention and encourage them to click through.
2) Balance your content
If all of your content has the same look and feel, no wonder users will begin to skim over your content! Try to experiment with photos, videos, links and questions to make your feeds more interesting. It’s useful to use tools such as Facebook insights to gage which style of updates evokes the best response.
3) Express yourself with emoticons
Text messages really gave life to emoticons- why not use them in your social media updates too? Hubspot reports that “something as simple as a smiley face emoticon in your post can increase likes by 57 percent, comments by 33 percent and shares by 33 percent over posts without them.”
Just don’t overdo it- else you’re at risk of your updates looking like they are being made by a 15 year old! 🙂
4) Look at your competitors
Social Media gives you the invaluable opportunity to spy on your neighbours! Take a look at what other dental practices are doing, in addition to other local businesses and learn from them. If you notice that their Facebook advertising campaign is working really well for them- why not start your own?
5) Update your social media profile
Many believe that once a social network has been set up that’s it. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case; regularly review your profiles, in particular ‘about us’, to make sure that the information is still relevant. Periodically update your cover photos and backgrounds too so that they do not become stale and outdated.
