As reported by searchengineland.com, Google has recently announced that the new version of the Google Maps Android app will now tell you how difficult it is to find parking at your destination. This is based on predictive data, similar to how Google calculates popular times for venues.
This is aimed at giving you a heads-up on how much more time you need to plan to get to your destination to include time for parking.
So far the feature it is only available for 25 metro areas throughout the US only. However, with these types of changes and roll-outs, in time they are released to other regions shortly after.
Here is a picture that shows you the parking icon in red at the bottom, showing “limited” parking.
Here in the Dental Design office, we’re hoping that an updated Google Local listing will allow our dentists, (who have parking at the practice) the opportunity of uploading this information and this being used in the feature.
We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one, and will be contacting our dental practices under our on-going management to prompt them for their parking details. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to provide your patients with parking and travel information on your websites contact page.
See below a contact page featuring, phone number, contact form, address, opening hours, map, what to do in an emergency, details of how to get to the practice via rail, train, sat nav, and car parking details. As well as links to local bus services.
With as much information as possible, you can add value to the user and cut through those barriers (that many nervous patients have) in coming to your practice.
