Back in 1998, the Backstreet Boys and Nsync were in their prime. If this makes you feel nostalgic towards the late 1990s, Google’s latest Easter Egg is certainly for you! To celebrate Google’s 15th birthday they have release an Easter Egg which transports you back in time, to how Google used to look back in 1998.
If you would like to see this for yourself simply search ‘google in 1998’ omitting the quotation marks into the search bar on their homepage.
You will see that there are only 10 blue links on the search engine results pages- are far cry from what we see today! In addition, back in 1998, Google invited users to try their search on other larger search engines of the day including: Alta vista. Excite, HotBot, Infoseek and Lycos.
Fast forward to 2013 and we have a very different looking search engine results page. Google has integrated Google Places listings, sponsored listings provided by Google Adwords, in addition to photos and videos- it’s amazing to see how much it has changed!
I certainly think that what we have now is an enormous improvement, particularly for helping smaller businesses such as dental practices to thrive online.
If you would like help to improve your search engine rankings in Google or are interested in appearing within the sponsored listings give Dental Design a call on: 01202 677 277 who will be happy to help you.
