After your website gets potential patients interested in the services that you offer, they will most likely head to your “About Us” page to make sure your practice is the right choice for them.
On the web you can’t communicate with potential patients face to face, therefore the “About Us” page is an important page of your website and it should tell the user who you are by showing them what you can do for them or have done for others.
This is the one area of your website where you really have a chance to tell your story — who you are, what your practice is all about, and what makes you unique. Stand out with an ‘About Us’ page that shows off who you really are. Your page should have a welcoming tone that relates to your patients needs, while also aligning with your practice ethos.
For starters, it should be informative. It doesn’t always have to tell the whole story, but it should at least provide patients with an idea of who and what you are. A good “About Us” page always needs to have some mention of past successes, achievements etc. Giving concrete examples of why your site or blog is worth reading. A basic layout could include:
1. Headline
2. Picture
3. Highlight your skills
4. Add some personality
Make your page a feast for the eyes by considering the use of photos, timelines, videos or infographics. If people are going to seek and find your page, it makes sense to capture their attention for as long as possible.
Tips:
1. Write in the first person
2. Keep it relatable
3. Show some personality
4. Establish a conversational tone
Showing the real you connects you with like-minded people. It also helps to carve out your niche and brand. To do this you should:
1. Write less about your qualifications and more about your interests
2. Be authentic, honest and true to yourself
3. Don’t be afraid to be loud and bold
The “About Us” page is actually more about your patient than it is about you. Speak to your audience’s needs and make them feel like they belong. Particularly nervous patients who want to get to know the practice before visiting.
Imagery:
Photos don’t necessarily need to be of each individual team member. Although individual head shots do help prospective patients visualize your practice. Always use photos of real people and places. If you can’t, don’t use any photos.
Ultimately people do business with real people, not with companies!
