Good work LinkedIn! Am pleased to see some of the giants responding to the demand for mobile websites / GOOD mobile apps (that serve a purpose no less). I updated the app this morning actually, it’s much more attractive and user-friendly than the last one – can still do much the same on it but, it’s a nice leap forward aesthetically and in terms of usability.
A quote from the article below that really should catch your attention: “LinkedIn claims mobile page views are growing 400% year on year, a factor that has prompted the revamps.” This is the sort of stat that any business – and by business I mean dental practice (!!) – cannot afford to ignore. If you are still sending a desktop website to a mobile device, you need to take action.
Take a look at www.dental-design-products.co.uk/mobile – for more information on mobile websites. They’re superb value for money and place no demands on your time.
LinkedIn has overhauled its mobile services starting with the launch of a new mobile site and a refresh of its mobile apps.
The main focus of the redesigns is the addition of a new Groups section. It lets users browse discussions and exchange information or post comments with different groups within their professional network.
LinkedIn saw strong revenue and profit increases after it became the first major social network to be publicly listed (nma.co.uk 5 August 2011).
It reported a 120% year-on-year revenue hike to $121m (£74m) in the three months to June. Meanwhile its profits rose from $4.3m ((£2.6m) to $4.5m (£2.8m) year-on-year.
Earlier this year it launched social news aggregator tool LinkedIn Today, which is also available across its mobile apps (nma.co.uk 11 March 2011).
