LinkedIn has followed in the footsteps of social networking sites Facebook and Google+ in allowing users to tag connections and companies in status updates.
When you now log in to LinkedIn you will be greeted with a speech bubble which says ‘now you can type a name to mention a member of company’. Similarly to Facebook, there is no need for a prefix, just begin typing the person/business you wish to tag and it will automatically produce a list of potential matches, when you click on the correct tag the name will be highlighted in grey.
Although, it's good to remember that when tagging someone it will be a public display and not a private message- so be careful what you say!
Many in the industry are embracing the new feature from LinkedIn, however is LinkedIn just being ‘copycats’ a bit too late in the game, in comparison to their social media peers?
