As a business marketing your practice online you are going to want to understand what competition you will have to compete against for visibility.
We deal with many clients that are just starting to market their practice online, or haven’t had much success with other companies, and the first analysis we carry out for the client is a “competitive analysis”.
Below are a few steps on how to carry out an analysis of your online competition:
1. What are the most important keywords you would like to rank for?
Understanding the keywords you would like to rank for helps you find the competitors that are ranking for these keywords already.
2. How many pages does the competition have indexed?
After you have made a note of your competitors’ websites make sure you run a search for the number of pages the search engine has indexed for each of them.
Running a “site:[domain]” search in Google will provide you with a list of the webpages Google has indexed for that site.
3. Examine your competitors’ link profile
Gaining an understanding of the quantity and quality of the links that your competitors’ websites have helps to formulate your own link building strategy. It also gives you an insight into any high value links that you might what to consider.
The thorough competitive analysis we do at Dental Design includes all of the above plus many other factors we use to formulate an effective strategy to help your visibility.
