Twitter is once again updating its look and this time around, the desktop version of the social media network looks strikingly similar to its Facebook rival.
Tweets with high engagement rates will be highlighted in the feed and photos will be larger. The most significant changes include the lack of twitter backgrounds, the introduction of larger profile pictures on the left and a larger cover photo along the top, in addition to the ability to pin your favourite tweets to the top; which mirrors the changes introduced by Facebook to user profiles in 2013.
“Moment by moment, your Twitter profile shows the world who you are. Starting today, it will be even easier (and, we think, more fun) to express yourself through a new and improved web profile,” said Twitter designer David Bellona in a blog post.
Viewers of other people’s profiles will also be able to filter timelines to exclude pictures and videos, so that they can just view tweets and replies.
The changes haven’t rolled out to all users yet; this is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
