One of the best (and worst!) things about working within online marketing is that it’s constantly changing and evolving. There’s always a new update, algorithm or feature being rolled out, whether that’s with organic search, web design, pay per click or the main subject of this post, Social Media and in particular, twitter.
The majority of changes are fairly small scale so don’t warrant a blog post by itself, so we’ve grouped together a few things which have changed in the past few months, which you may not know about to keep you up to date.
1.Twitter Responses
Twitter is known for being a key customer service platform- if a customer wants answers, no doubt they’ll go here first. As a result, twitter are testing a new feature which lets your followers know the times when you’re most likely to be online and therefore available to speak to.
It looks very similar to Facebook’s response badges, which indicates how responsive a company is to messages whenever they’re sent. However, twitter’s version looks to be a bit more useful, as it helps to manage follower’s expectations for how soon they should expect a response.
2. Twitter Features Tab
Twitter is also testing a ‘Featured’ tweets tab, which looks to be a highlight listing of the page’s latest and most popular tweets, as well as an image gallery.
We’re not sure yet as it’s only in beta to some users, but the page owner may actually be able to choose which tweets are featured, providing another way for practices to showcase their key messages and make their presence more engaging. However, the benefit of this is debatable – most people would likely prefer to just see latest tweets.
3. Twitter sports broadcasting
Whilst not strictly dental related- it’s still pretty cool! Twitter has been live streaming the Wimbledon Tennis tournament, giving fans a taste of how live broadcasts and twitter streams can work in harmony.
It’s well known that people second or even sometimes third screen when watching an event, so this is twitters attempt at keeping user’s full attention.
