Ways to keep visitors on your site longer

You’ve worked hard creating the perfect website, now you need to reflect this in your visitors.Blog Image

You may have the right domain, great SEO, the perfect mobile and responsive website but may still be wondering why your visitors aren’t spending enough time on your website reading your content.

High bounce rate is the large percentage of visitors who fail to engage with more than one page on your site.  High quality relevant content and page loading time are two main factors that lead to bounce rate.  Here are some other ways to keep visitors on your site for longer.

1. Experiment with multimedia

Having a video is a great way to convert sales and build interest around your product holding patients attention for longer. Some patients would prefer to watch a video than read a large block of text. You may have created great videos but are unsure of how to incorporate them into your website. For those of you on WordPress, you can easily download a free tool called, Smart YouTube Pro.

2. Slide Shows

Slide presentations are a great way to use information and images to draw visitors into your products or services.

3. Link to internal content on the website

Another factor that influences high bounce rates is the failure to give readers multiple content that might interest them. One simple way to keep people on your site longer is to add internal links to other related pages throughout your site.

4. Add a chat feature

Many industries require users to be able to ask questions about products. If your site doesn’t have a FAQ section or a forum, adding a chat feature allows visitors to obtain answers to questions they are in search of when visiting your site. Think about the length of time it takes to have a conversation online. When done properly, great customer service wins over potential patients more often than not.

5. Prompt readers to do something

If you want patients to stay on your website, ask them to do something for you. For example encourage them to fill in a contact form, view your special offers, leave comments at the end of your blog posts and direct them to videos on your site.

6. Give something away

If your practice offers the right item, which will cost the practice very little, but still offers visitors’ value, you may just win at converting some patients. Free consultations are also great for practices as you are giving away free knowledge.

7. Make your content more readable

High quality content is the most important factor to reduce bounce rates. To make your content more readable keep sentences short and relevant, use subheadings to break up content into sections, add bullet points to make your points stand out and bold words and phrases.
