Microsoft’s search engine Bing is slowly slicing market share away from its rivals, new stats show.

Microsoft’s search engine Bing has boosted its market share – and it’s adding to its bit of the pie by stealing slivers from Google, Yahoo and Ask.
Launched last month to solid reviews, Bing quickly grabbed a five per cent share of the search market. Many speculated that its market share was a result of the media coverage surrounding the launch, and that Bing’s piece of the pie would shrink over time, according to statistics from Net Applications.
However, it’s now holding a 5.3 per cent share, keeping it solidly in third place, behind Google at 81.2 per cent and Yahoo at 9.2 per cent.
According to Net Applications: “From May to June, Google shows a 0.3 per cent drop, Yahoo shows a 0.17 per cent drop, and Ask shows a 0.1 per cent drop in usage share.”
Bing briefly pipped Yahoo at the beginning of last month, but soon slipped back into third.
